New Canadian Cat Skiing Operation

Castle Mountain located in Alberta Canada, 240km south of the province's gateway city Calgary, has introduced an all new cat skiing operation, covering terrain that was formerly backcountry skiing. Renowned as a powder magnet, Castle Mountain has a cult reputation for offering light dry powder snow, on un-crowded slopes with great vertical for all abilities.

The all new cat operation will be lift assisted utilising the mountain's Huckleberry Chair. From the exit of the Huckleberry Chair guests will board the Great Divide Adventures Snow Cat to transport skiers, and boarders up to Mount Haig where wide open bowls, great runs and breathtaking scenery await. The terrain was formerly backcountry skiing, and is now within the resort operations, adding an additional 600 acres of undeveloped powder stashes to the skiable area.

Full day cat excursions set off at 7:30am and finish at 4:30pm, operating on Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays, with a maximum of 12 people per cat, and two cat loads per day. People are recommended to be at least an aggressive intermediate in order to enjoy the day.

The price of a full day cat tour at Castle Mountain costs $215 CAD + gst. Pre booking is required on all trips. Avalanche beacons, probes & shovels are required, and can be rented through Castle Mountain Pro Shop at the Resort. For further details or to book see www.skicastle.ca
